Does mustard cut the mustard?

Whether sweet, medium hot, spicy or Dijon mustard – we love them all! With sausage or liver cheese, in a vinaigrette or sauce – mustard is versatile and extremely popular. It basically consists of mustard seeds, vinegar, sugar and various spices.

Medium hot mustard with glyphosate

Yellow and brown mustard seeds are used to make medium-hot mustard. In a recent test, medium-hot conventional and organic mustards were tested. Of the 13 conventional mustards, glyphosate was found in 10 products. Glyphosate is a pesticide active ingredient used to eliminate weeds, which is approved in the EU until 2022. According to the World Health Organization’s cancer agency, glyphosate is “probably carcinogenic” to humans. The BfR, however, rates glyphosate as non-carcinogenic when used properly.

The taste convinces completely

No off-flavours or deviations were detected during sensory testing of the products. A off-flavour can be an undesired odor or taste, which can result from storage or production.
